Striper Marina Striped Bass Tournament May 30 – June 3

It’s hard to believe we are in our 19th year! The 19th annual Striper Marina Striped Bass Tournament is approaching us May 30 through June 3. As in the past, the tournament theme is “Catching Fish to Help Children”. The proceeds support the Washington Park Children’s Shelter for abused and abandoned Children in Rhode Island. We’re hoping you can help the children this year.

Since the first tournament back in 1994, the Washington Park Children’s Shelter for Abused and Abandoned Children has received over $80,000.00! This has been made possible by the entry fees from anglers, the generous contributions made by corporations, local businesses, and charitable anglers and non-anglers. All these people support the tournament theme – “Catching Fish to Help Children”. This year we need your help to break our fundraising records.

This tournament brings a lot of camaraderie and competition between many anglers in our area. It also presents us with an opportunity to promote ‘Tag and Release’ fishing strategies. We strive for Tag and Release methods to be used widely in order to preserve and improve the fish stocks in Narragansett Bay. We must help make it possible that future generations be able to enjoy the bay and the fun and excitement of recreational fishing.

In these tough economic times in Rhode Island, there are more kids in our area that need your help. Your support of the tournament can be a big help to the many needy children. Our tournament has a long standing record at 19 years.

We thank you for your interest in our fishing tournament and we believe your support would be a tremendous help to local children in need.

Applications are available at the Marina office, Lucky Bait and Tackle, and some other local boat shops in our area.
